Telangana Revenue minister and Transport minister visited south korea han river project and following the same project wants to implement in telangana .
The Congress government in Telangana, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has initiated an ambitious plan to rejuvenate the Musi River in Hyderabad. The project aims to transform the river and its surroundings into a world-class riverfront similar to other successful waterfront projects in India, such as the Sabarmati Riverfront in Gujarat. The key focus of this initiative is not merely beautification but a comprehensive revival aimed at improving the living conditions and boosting the economy.
Main Objectives of the Musi Riverfront Development Project:
- Rehabilitation and Infrastructure: The government emphasizes rehabilitating residents living along the river before proceeding with any developmental work. This involves ensuring proper compensation and housing for displaced families.
- Tourism and Heritage Enhancement: The plan includes transforming historic buildings along the river into tourist attractions and developing the entire 55-kilometer stretch to create a vibrant public space. The project is expected to uplift the city’s visual appeal and attract both tourists and locals.
- Environmental Improvement: The focus is on restoring the river’s ecosystem and improving water quality. This is crucial for the overall health of the Musi River, which has faced severe pollution issues for years.
- Global Expertise: The government has engaged top international firms to draft a detailed project report (DPR). The report is expected to be ready in 18 months and will provide a roadmap for implementing the project over a span of six years.
The Congress government intends to make this project a flagship initiative for Telangana, aiming to position Hyderabad as a global city while addressing environmental, social, and economic challenges associated with the river
